Abstract The Representational Theory of Measurement (RTM) is the best known account kind representation measurement requires. However, RTM has been challenged from various angles, with critics claiming e.g. that fails to for actual practice and it ambiguous about nature measurable attributes. In this paper I use critical literature on formulate Representation Minimalism – a characterization what measurement-relevant requires at minimum. argue avoids main problems while acknowledging its usefulness as formal foundation in measurement.
